Cancellation policy

CANCELLATIONS:

  1. Most cancellations incur an administrative cancellation fee as set out below. Any payments allocated to a booking that are excess to the cancellation fee will be refunded. Refunds will only be made by bank transfer to a nominated Australian bank account. The bank account nomination must be received by email from the email address connected to the cancelled booking, or by text message from the phone number connected to the cancelled booking.

  2. To avoid any doubt, a request to reschedule a hire is treated as two separate requests - a request to cancel an existing booking which will be assessed under this cancellation policy, and a new booking request which will be processed under our new booking deposits policy.

  3. For cancellation requests received 30 days or more before the hire commencement date for general hires, or 60 days or more before the hire commencement date for Christmas and New Year hires, the cancellation fee is $100.

  4. For cancellation requests received less than 30 days before the hire commencement date for general hires, or less than 60 days before the hire commencement date for Christmas and New Year hires, the cancellation fee is the lesser of

    1. the total booking hire fee;

    2. the total of all payments allocated to the cancelled hire; or

    3. the reduced cancellation fee set out in clause 5.

  5. Where a booking is cancelled pursuant to clause 4 and a replacement booking at the advertised rate is able to be obtained, the cancellation fee set out in clause 4.1 will be reduced by 50%.

  6. Where payment of the full hire fee has not been made at least 30 days before the hire commencement date for regular hires, or 60 days or more before the hire commencement date for Christmas and New Year hires, we reserve the right to cancel the hire without notice. The cancellation fee is the total of all payments allocated to the cancelled hire. If the original hire dates remain available, we may, at our sole discretion, accept a request to reinstate the cancelled booking and re-allocate some or all of any payments received to the re-instated booking.

  7. In extreme weather conditions, such as flooding, where we are advised, or we deem it to be, unsafe or irresponsible to allow your hire to proceed, we will cancel your booking. In this circumstance there is no cancellation fee and you will be entitled to your choice of alternative hire dates or a full refund of all payments allocated to the cancelled booking.

  8. In some weather conditions, such as high winds or heavy fog, we may impose additional temporary restrictions on where and/or when you can navigate the houseboat. This is a safety precaution and is not considered to be a cancellation. It does not create any entitlement to a full or partial refund.

  9. With effect from 1 October 2022 cancellations due to COVID 19 are no longer treated separately and are subject to the cancellation conditions shown above.

  10. Notwithstanding any of the conditions in this policy, we may, at our sole discretion, for any reason or in any circumstances, apply more favourable cancellation terms.
